Message from Assistant Principal – April 22, 2020

Greetings King IB Families!

Well, the news that I think most of expected is now official.  We will not be returning to the campus this school year.  While we are saddened by this, we know that it is what is necessary in order to reduce exposure and keep our students, staff, and families safe. What is important to remember that building is just a building.  The heart of the school is the people.  That’s you!

Our teachers have been working tirelessly to stay connected to their students and classes.  We want you to continue to know that we are here to support however we can.

To our seniors, the district has published a new date for graduation.  At this time, the plan is to conduct the King High School graduation ceremony on Wednesday, July 15 at 1 pm the Florida State Fair Grounds.  We are looking forward to celebration YOU ALL on that day!

We do want to let you know that due to the decision to not return to school buildings this year, we are canceling the senior banquet.  The IB Connections board and I are meeting this Friday (virtually, of course!) to discuss how we can still celebrate and honor our seniors for all their hard work and commitment!

I know there have been many questions on getting back to campus to access lockers, turn in books, get instruments, etc.  Administration is working on a plan for this.  We hope to have that plan to share with you in a week or so.

I hope you are taking advantage of this time with family.  I hope you are challenging yourself to do something new each day. Read a good book, go for a walk or run, ride a bike, take up a new hobby! Use this time to become the best version of you that you want to be!

Stay well.
Mr. Finch
